Charles F. Rumold , youngest son of John F. and Elizabeth DeWalt Rumold, was born in the community of Dillon, Dickinson County, Kansas, February 2, 1892, and departed this life in the Abilene Memorial Hospital July 4, 1970, at the age of seventy -eight years, five months and two days.

He was the last member of a pioneer family which settled on Turkey Creek in 1869 He grew to manhood and spent his life on the farm in the Dillon Community. He was married to Cleo Lockard April 4, 1917, and the two were privileged to enjoy 53 years of married life. To this union three children were born. A son, Carl, Junior, died in infancy and another son, Wayne Winston, died in 1947.

As a young man he united with the Dillon Methodist church, transferring to the Hope Methodist curch, and then to the United Immanuel Methodist church in Abilene.

A quiet and unassuming man, he enjoyed his home and took special pride in the care and appearance of his home and of his farm work.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of the home, 924 West First Street, Abilene; one daughter, Mrs. Verden Long, Hope; three grandchildren, Dwight Long, Hope, Kansas;l Mrs. Lois Lind, Oakdale, Nebraska; Mrs Letha Kraus, Combined Locks, Wisconsin; and one great grandchild, Charles Michael Kraus, other relatives and frieds.
