Lester Leon Kelley

Lester Leon Kelley went to be with the Lord from natural causes on April 11, 2015. He was born on May 2, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Helen Dixon. She later married Bud Kelley who legally adopted Lester and his two brothers, Max and Conrad. Later in life, two sisters were added to their family, Sandy and Donna.

Lester wanted to see the world at an early age and ran away from home. He became a sailor on merchant ships in the Caribbean. At 17, he joined the Army, but was soon honorably discharged due to his health.

Lester then traveled the country, working odd jobs along the way. He discovered Idaho where he became a mountain man in the old Idaho Primitive area for five years working as a guide, trapper and ranch hand.

When he decided to settle down, he moved to Cascade, Idaho where he worked for 25 years at the sawmill. It was during that time that he met his wife, Ramona and her two children: David and Rayola. Later his nephew, Patrick and Deborah Zitterkopf joined the family.

Lester is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, both brothers and his sister Sandy. He is survived by his son, David (Norma) Kelley; daughter Rayola Kelley; nephew, Patrick (Sharon) Kelley; Deborah Zitterkopf; six grandchildren and three great grand children.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd. Nampa. A viewing will be held at the chapel from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service.
