     Nikolaus of Lorraine, Baron de Mercoeur, Seigneur de Chaligny was born on 16 October 1524 at Bar le Duc, France.1,2,4 He married Margareta von Egmond, daughter of Johann II, Graf von Egmond and Françoise of Luxembourg, on 1 May 1549.3 Nikolaus of Lorraine, Baron de Mercoeur, Seigneur de Chaligny married Johanna of Savoy, daughter of Philipp of Savoy, Baron de Faucigny, Markgraf of Saluzzo, Graf of Genf and Charlotte d' Orleans, on 24 February 1555 at Fontainebleau, France.6 Nikolaus of Lorraine, Baron de Mercoeur, Seigneur de Chaligny married Catherine Romula of Lorraine, daughter of Claude de Guise, Duke d'Aumale and Louise de Breze, on 11 May 1569.7 Nikolaus of Lorraine, Baron de Mercoeur, Seigneur de Chaligny died on 23 January 1577 at age 52.2,4
